THE HERMIT OF PÄIJÄNNE TOIVO PYLVÄLÄINEN

The hermit of Päijänne  and  the ”Emperor of Koreakoivu”       Toivo Pylväläinen

Toivo Pylväläinen was born in  Leivonmäki year 1894.

He lived in many different places  as a forest worker before moving to Koreakoivu, which is an isolated island on Tehinselkä open lake, on Päijänne  (1936.) He was very curous as his character and totally devoded to fishing. He created his own wobbler from American models in the middle of 1930ies.

His lure became a legend but Pylväläinen was not interested in serial manifacturing. He sold his lures whenever he wanted or needed money.

Pylväläinen was a very special person and  people came from far to hear his amazing fishing stories.

Pylväläinen made his lures the whole time while living on the island of Koreakoivu.  He was taken to Kuhmoinen old age home in a very bad condition and unhealthy  and he  died there in

1979.         The cottage of the hermit
